When Dylan was diagnosed almost 9 years ago, and started ABA, his therapist said "he needs a mini trampoline". We were in a position to order one and have it set up quickly. This isn't possible for everyone due to many parents having to quit working because finding childcare for a special needs kiddo is impossible.
Hours of therapy/school do not match up with work hours, and necessary therapies take place during the work day. The purpose of this organization will be to provide items not covered by insurance, that helped Dylan and countless other children thrive.
When a child turns 3 they age out of first steps/early intervention and the school system takes over. Dylan was evaluated by the school psychologist, who then recommended his placement for developmental pre-k. At that time, Dylan's dad, Steve worked in Education. A group of his colleagues who specialized in special education were instrumental in helping us to navigate the IEP (Individualized Education Plan) process. They were named the "The Super Friends". They would go on to become trusted resources each IEP season. As years, have gone by the Super Friends has expanded to include so many amazing teachers, therapists, friends, and family who have supported our family on this journey.
